Comments received re the 50th reunion weekend:

I am sorry we were not able to attend the reunion. My wife Cynthia is recovering from cancer and didn't want to appear in public.  She wanted to be at our cottage in Copper Harbor with my daughter and two grandsons, so here we are.

I must say over my forty plus years of practice (dentist) I had many of our former teachers as patients including Long John Postma. It gives you a great feeling of power to be sitting on the other side. They all turned out to be wonderful and friendly people. It's good to remember them that way.

Many thanks to the hard working committee for a wonderful reunion.
It is hard to believe that 50 years have passed since our days at
Battle Creek High School.
A good time was had by all!

First of all, I want to again say what a spectacular
job you all did with the 50th.  Everyone had a great
time and we all appreciate the efforts of all those
who contributed to this wonderful event.

I think we should have a 55th with book et al at
the same location.  I think this is an excellent venue
and it seems to work for everyone plus the food is
always good!

I'm a little behind in getting this out to you.  Thanks so much to the reunion committee for all the work and time spent on planning our 50th class reunion.  It was very nice and the dinner was soooooooooooooo good!!

I was so glad that we could bring Susan (Lewis Fairchild) with us.  She was really looking forward to going, and we weren't sure how well she would be feeling.  Fortunately, she was ready and willing to go, and I know she had a great time.  Thanks, again,

Judy (Wiegand) Oteney

Well, I'm finally back home again after a really wonderful trip!  The reunion was fantastic... everyone really outdid themselves!  Everything was perfect and came together so well and I know everyone had a wonderful time!  I like the addition of the video Saturday night, and can't wait for my copy!  I hope you liked the program - Vog and I had fun writing the song and I enjoyed making the Award certificates.

The rest of my trip around the state of Michigan to visit friends and family was wonderful. The few days at Lake Michigan with my girlfriends was very special.

I really did have a lovely time, but glad to be back home - got back to Dallas late Sunday night.  Wanted to let the committee know what a wonderful job you have done with this great event, and with the fantastic website!  Hope you have rested up from all the activities and that all is going well.

Keep in touch, and I hope it won't have to be another five years before we see each other again!

Best regards, Dee Rose Karp

It was so wonderful to see so many Battle Creek people after too many years!  I was amazed to see how many golfers and fishermen emerged from our class; and long, happy marriages seem to be the rule.  My sister Carol and I spent the days visiting places in Battle Creek, and the restoration and development is very impressive.  It is clearly a community that cares for each other and builds on yesterday.  Also, the schools that we were privileged to attend are well cared for and remarkably beautiful.  After travelling the world, it is great to come home and find that where you started is so special.

Thank you to all of you who worked so hard to make this event successful.  I know you also must participate in making Battle Creek an outstanding city!

P.S.  Mrs. Keithly wouldn't like me not to proofread, so I corrected our to are (on 1st email)!

Frida's NOTE:  I saw Mrs. Keithly just a few years ago at a Verona Mixer and she looked just the same as when she taught us in Grade 2 (?) - slim, very well preserved and agile, and no gray hair, hmmmm.

Sounds as though you had a great time at the reunion.  I am going to send a check for a book, if there are still any available - would like to see what everyone is doing.

I ordered and paid for a reunion book.  Can I anticipate the book will be mailed soon?  I am attending a family reunion the weekend of 31 August and hoped to share the pictures with family and friends.
(NEXT DAY: The book arrived yesterday.  My wife was looking through it when I arrived home from work.)

I heard from Bob Wolfe that the reunion was a phenominal success and everyone had a good time.  That is wonderful.  I am sorry I was unable to attend.

Regards, Dick Kirschman

"Great job" kudos go to you and the rest of the committee.  We enjoyed all the activities and seeing everyone again.

Enclosing the address of Carl Tuttle's brother.  Maybe he can shed some light on Carl's whereabouts.

Again, many thanks for a memorable weekend.
God bless, Nancy Turner Murphy

"What a Weekend."  I want to thank the entire reunion committee for planning and executing a perfect 50th High School Reunion.

I think all of us would like to have

at least one more reunion.

Received a call from Chalice Kuchenreuther Niebauer on Aug 13th – wasn’t it great to see her at the dinner/dance on Saturday!  She wanted to express her gratitude to the several classmates who conspired to convince her to come (especially Marge Johnson Diget) and her congratulations to the entire reunion committee on a job well done!

And, this note:

I wanted to write and thank you and the committee for all the work you put into our 50th reunion.

 It is truly appreciated!

We had such a good time on Friday nite.

And Saturday night with Sandy Schrader Reese and her husband, Jerry, was also great.

They are doing so well and are such good friends.

It was delightful talking with you and so many of our classmates – stay happy and healthy!

I had intended to forward this note of appreciation first thing Monday morning but you know what can happen to the best of intentions.  Jackie and I had a wonderful time on Friday and Saturday night because of all the hard work you and the other committee members put in.  You know, I can remember a time when I did not think that people lived long enough to celebrate their 50th high school reunion and yet here we are.  It was wonderful to see old friends and to share stories and memories.  I was truly impressed with how successful so many of our classmates have been - a really outstanding group of people.

I am sure there were times when you and other committee members wondered if all the time you were spending on the preparations was worth it.  Well let me assure you that because of you and the committee so many of us have new memories to treasure.  A simple thank you seems woefully inadequate but THANK YOU.  Please share my appreciation with the other committee members.

I'm sorry we missed the reunion.  I was looking forward to seeing everyone and catching up on the latest news.  My Mom, bless her soul, is still living here in Tennessee in a nursing home.  She had a doctor's appointment on 8/2 and was told she needed surgery right away.  The doctor scheduled surgery for Tuesday 8/7.  Due to the circumstances we felt we needed to be here with Mom and traveling to Michigan for such a short period of time was too much for us old folks.  We had planned family reunions and get together's with friends but had to cancel.  Mom came through the surgery (on both ears) with flying colors and has restored hearing in both ears. They were concerned because of her age (94 yrs) and general health.  Quality of life for her is much better now that she can hear and carry on conversations with people.
I'm sure you all had a good time and we miss seeing old friends and class members.  Keep up the good work with the web-site, you're doing a fantastic job keeping it together.

I sure did enjoy receiving the e-mail regarding your 50th reunion.  It sounds like it turned out just wonderful.   I can only imagine how much time and energy your committee put into the event.  I am sure you and everyone else will have memories that they will never, ever forget.  Next spring, when we start planning our 50th, I am hoping that I can call on you for some good advice.  Take care and relax!!!!!

I know this is just one note among so many, but I want
to thank you (the committee) for the reunion.
I hope you derive some
extra pleasure from knowing that the "rest of us" know
that without you and your tireless efforts on our
behalf, the glorious get-together this weekend simply
wouldn't have happened. Never on that level, with that
attendance, and with that "good feeling" that was
everywhere evident.

If you walk away tomorrow, you have left quite a
legacy.  But I am sure that I join all our classmates
in hoping that you never tire of the great work you do.

Thanks so much.   Tom Owen    Class of 1957

What a truly wonderful group of people we have in the
Battle Creek Central High School Class of 1957!
It has been such a pleasure to get to know so many of you again at this point in our lives and I am so proud to have witnessed the frequent acts of kindness, the caring for others and reaching out to be sure as many as possible were able to join us in this
50th anniversary celebration.

On behalf of the entire reunion committee, I want to extend our thanks to ALL OF YOU who attended the reunion events and to those of you who have contributed in so many ways to make this past weekend possible.  Yes, the committee met and planned the event, but it was the participation of all of this great group of classmates which made it such a huge success!

You're the best!  God bless you all, Frida Herwarth Miles

Now that the reunion is over again for awhile, maybe you can take a breather :-).  How did it turn out?  Did everything turn out as planned?  Can I assume you will be posting pictures on the reunion site as soon as you get them?  Or as soon as people get them to you!!

Royest Richardson said the meal, tour of the high school, and everything he attended was just great.  He and I have been e-mailing each other and getting reacquainted.  It's been fun.  That alone was worth 'searching' all of the classmate info for you.
Wish I could have been there.  Maybe next time...

Thanks for the wonderful weekend. Please thank the other committee members as well.
That New York Strip was also wonderful - We're having the halves we could not eat tonight when I get out of dialysis.

Good to meet you - and thanks for the book purchase.

Thanks again for all you did to make the reunion such a success.  I've had a good time reading about my classmates in the book, and realize
what a tremendous effort it was to put this all together.

Saturday evening when we were being videoed and I was asked "have you changed in 50 years?"  I answered "I've stayed the same' .  Well that was wrong - I was having a "senior moment".  When I was 33 years old I invited Christ Jesus to be the LORD of my life, HE is, and I am now a Believer - a born again Christian.  My life has not been the same since.

Thank you all for all your efforts on the reunion.  It was a success.

I WAS HAPPY TO SEE THE PICTURE OF BOB AND CAROLE DE REES.  APPARENTLY, THEY WERE NOT AT THE REUNION ON FRIDAY EVENING (I WOULD HATE TO KNOW THAT I MISSED THEM AT THE REUNION).  I WOULD SAY IT SURELY SOUNDS LIKE THE ENTIRE REUNION WAS A SUCCESS, AND SORRY THAT I ONLY HAD FRIDAY EVENING.  THAT WAS A LOT TO TAKE IN AFTER ALL THESE YEARS!  HA!  MARY RICHARDSON MEAD AND I HAD A LOT TO CATCH UP ON ALSO.
